Arlington Properties today announced that it has broken ground on Tapestry University City, a 352-unit luxury apartment community in University City, a submarket of Charlotte, N.C., surrounding the University of North Carolina’s Charlotte campus.

This development is Arlington’s first in the Charlotte market.

“We’re excited to enter this market with our first development here,” said William Morris, vice president of development at Arlington Properties, and are especially inspired by the vibe and energy of this area.” “The University submarket with its jobs, services, and amenities is what we look for in a class-A location. Being located across the street from a LYNX Blue Line station is an incredible bonus that will give our residents a direct connection to Uptown, NoDa, and South End.”

Tapestry University City’s 7,000- square- foot clubhouse will have a state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center, along with a resort-quality pool. Also planned is a large lawn, pet park, and walking trails, all oriented around a preserved 5- acre wooded stream. Outdoor grilling stations and pocket parks are located throughout the community. “This location provided the opportunity for a true suburban community, said Morris, with direct access to urban transit. We took great care in focusing on the natural features of the site while keeping the walkable urban feel.”

Other amenities will include a 24-hour resident “train lobby” directly across from the University City Blvd LYNX light rail station. The leasing office will offer a package service to accept deliveries for residents. There will be more details on the interiors of the apartment homes, but all will offer ‘best in class’ finishes and features. Tapestry University City will open in 2021.
