A vision for good.

A shared commitment to improving lives and supporting communities.

A mission to transform lives.

The Arlington Foundation was established in 2021 to invest in transformational projects in the communities where our teams live and work.

We do this to equip organizations and individuals to change trajectories, sustain livelihoods, and help families thrive.

We accomplish this by:

Engaging Associates

Supporting communities where we do business.

We prioritize projects and programs in communities where our associates live and work, and strive to ensure our associates are represented in the grantmaking process.

Fostering Dignity

The power to help people find work and home.

We know the power of home and work. We are committed to investing in organizations and projects that enable people to obtain work, find a home, and thrive for years to come.

Stewarding Resources

Making impact now and far into the future.

We seek and support organizations with a reputation for fiscal responsibility, ethical decision-making, and making a meaningful and measurable difference in people’s lives.

“When people feel supported and heard, they rise to the occasion and grow stronger. ELI Thrive is deeply grateful to The Arlington Foundation for entrusting us with funding that drives lasting impact and empowers families to thrive.”

“Your funding reinforced to us that success is about far more than securing a job or earning a credential – it’s about creating a stable foundation that allows participants to build a life of dignity and self-sufficiency.”

“Our work cannot happen without people like you who care enough to give. Your giving paves the way for young adults to learn a trade, to grow emotionally and spiritually, and to own a home. You empower neighbors to serve each other.”

“This grant allowed us to undertake long-overdue planning efforts critical to the program’s future success. We are just so grateful for the opportunity to apply funds where needed.”

Kendall Petties, a Birmingham City Schools high school student, served as a Promise intern at UAB’s HR Talent Acquisition team in the fall of 2024. Here’s what she shared about the value of the internship:  “My biggest win is my experience of being able to work in a corporate office, because a lot of people my age don’t get that experience, and they do not have the knowledge or opportunity.”  Her supervisor, Oscar Hunter, seconded the ‘win win’ nature of the relationship, noting that “Programs like Birmingham Promise are vital in shaping the future of our communities [because] they help bridge the gap between education and employment, providing students with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in their career.
